Position Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading banquet and event service operations to ensure an exceptional guest experience at The Wisconsin Country Club. This role supervises banquet staff, coordinates event execution, and serves as the primary point of contact during events, ensuring that all service standards are met and that events run smoothly from setup through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Leadership & Service:
- Oversee banquet operations during weddings, corporate events, golf outings, member functions, and special occasions.
- Lead and motivate banquet servers and support staff to deliver outstanding service.
- Conduct pre-event meetings to review event details, service expectations, and staff assignments.
- Monitor service throughout events and address guest needs promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate food and beverage service with the culinary and management teams.
Event Setup & Execution:
- Ensure banquet rooms and event spaces are set according to event specifications and club standards.
- Verify table arrangements, décor placement, audiovisual needs, and service stations before guest arrival.
- Manage event timelines and communicate updates to staff and department leaders.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and make real-time adjustments as needed.
Staff Supervision:
- Train, coach, and support banquet team members on service standards and procedures.
- Delegate tasks and monitor staff performance during events.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Guest Experience:
- Serve as a visible and approachable leader during events.
- Build positive relationships with members, guests, and event hosts.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
Operational Excellence:
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in banquet areas.
- Assist with inventory management, equipment care, and event supply organization.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous banquet, restaurant, hospitality, or event service experience required.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
Schedule Requirements:
